Our Programs

We don’t just help students get into college—we stay with them every step of the way. What sets us apart is our commitment to long-term, high-touch support that provides students with the guidance, resources, and relationships they need to succeed. Our programming is built on whole-family engagement, early career preparation, and alumni who give back to help the next generation.

From their first college list to their first paycheck, our work is grounded in three core pillars:

College Success

Getting into college is just the beginning. For first-generation students, staying in college means navigating unfamiliar academic expectations, financial pressures, and social dynamics on their own. We offer the resources and assistance students need to persist and graduate.

INDIVIDUAL ADVISING & FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Our scholars receive personalized advising, financial assistance, and targeted programming throughout their college experience.

Understanding that financial stability is crucial to academic success, we provide four-year scholarships, book and computer stipends, internship funding, and supplemental or emergency funds when unexpected needs arise.
LIFE SKILLS, COMMUNITY BUILDING & WELLNESS
Through monthly check-ins and workshops, students develop essential academic, workforce, and financial skills. Students are encouraged to connect with campus resources and opportunities, as well as with peers and mentors within the program. Additionally, First in Family ensures students have access to mental health support when needed.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathway

First in Family is launching a CTE pilot to help students who are interested in pursuing associate degrees or certificates in high-demand technical fields. This initiative recognizes that career and technical education offers viable pathways to economic stability.

FOCUS ON HIGH-NEED OCCUPATIONS

We've identified career fields in Wyoming and surrounding counties that meet specific criteria: they provide livable wages, demonstrate projected growth, and employer demand exceeds the supply of trained workers. Students in the CTE pathway will explore these high-need occupations and select career areas that align with their interests and offer strong employment opportunities after graduation.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The pilot launches in fall 2026 with the selection of our first cohort of CTE scholars. These students will begin their post-secondary studies in fall 2027. A dedicated CTE program coordinator will provide specialized support while ensuring students have access to all First in Family resources, including financial aid assistance, career counseling, and emergency support funds. If students decide to transfer to a four-year program, the scholarship structure allows for a seamless transition.

Hear from our students

“While the financial support has really helped, so have the connections and guidance they have given me … I know I always have someone to rely on, no matter what.”
